Van't Kruji's Opening

This opening is solely for people afraid of the Scholars' Mate. If you don't know what the Scholar's mate is or how to defend it, this is the wrong thing to read. White's move is 1. e3. This is one of the few openings that gives black the upper hand. The people who use this are only the ones who are beginners, have seen the Scholars' Mate before, and have no clue how to defend against it.

The best way to attack the opening is for black to move e5. If white tries to do the Scholars' mate, all you have to do is d5 and it is foiled. They have no good way to attack or defend if you do the right thing. This is one of the worst openings for white.  It accomplishes virtually nothing.
